Land hermit crabs are from tropical areas. Importantly, they breathe through modified gills that act as lungs. It is vital to create a tropical environment that is both warm and humid.
You will need a glass tank with lid, a heat source (heat mat or heating coil), a temperature and humidity gauge (WIFI if possible for easy monitoring), and ideally a thermostat to keep the temperature from dropping too low or getting too high.
Set it and the thermostat will keep their conditions ideal – and you may notice happier, more active hermit crabs. Australian hermit crabs need humidity levels between 70-85%.
I recommend the ThermoPro humidity and temperature gauge which gives minimum and maximum temperature and humidity, comes in both Celcius and Fahrenheit and has Bluetooth capabilities to read the gauges on the ThermoPro Sensor app.
